Patrick Montgomery has taught college for 27 years including 7 at Napa College, CA and 20 at City University of Seattle. His diverse academic education has enabled him to teach in several disciplines including courses in business organization and communication, business ethics, introduction to philosophy, art history, and American literature.
He has a B.A. and M.A. in English, an M.Div. in Theology, a PhD in Psychology and a PhM. in Humanities including English, philosophy and religion. He has also completed numerous business courses on his way to an MBA degree and a Washington Real Estate Broker’s license including business management, law, finance, MIS, property management and appraisal. He also owns and operates small laundry businesses in Tacoma and in Federal Way.


During his 20 years at City U, he has taught classroom courses from Everett to Tacoma, distance learning courses including overseas students in Europe and Egypt and hybrid courses including "The Effective Organization","Ethics""Humanities' and his last few years in the MBA graduate program "People and Systems in Organizations". In this last course he emphasized principles of leadership including being ethical, organizing well, setting priorities and caring for others.

Since retiring from City University in 2016, he has developed a short course on John Maxwell principles of leadership and taught it several times at a local church. He continues to offer this course and is also available for individual coaching and consulting.


Patrick is a very skilled teacher and receives high ratings from his students especially on faculty student relationship and clear communication of course ideas.
Patrick is passionate about his teaching and really cares about his students. He has found through his own class surveys and his own experience that students learn more and receive higher grades when they have an enjoyable and positive learning
experience.
